The poem is structured around the months of the year, using each month as a backdrop to explore how families express love, care, and connection in different cultures. Through full-color, detailed illustrations, the book highlights landmarks, traditions, and everyday moments from various countries, showing that the love between parents and children is a shared human experience that transcends borders and cultural differences.
The central theme is universal family love — the idea that no matter where you are or what your family looks like, the feeling of being loved and cared for is a constant and precious part of life. It's a gentle, affirming message for children, encouraging them to appreciate their own family while recognizing that others share similar feelings.
A note from the author
“I wrote this poem for my children as an expression of love, preserved for them in book form. The idea for the book's structure came from travels to different parts of the world and observing how, no matter where, parents and children play together and show love to one another. This is my second collaboration with Darcy Ripley, who filled the book with stunning, full-color illustrations.”
