The story follows Tina, a young girl, and her friends as they encounter a situation that challenges their outlook. Tina is given the opportunity to choose how she thinks and behaves in that moment. Instead of reacting negatively, she decides to think and act in a positive way. This choice leads to a meaningful revelation, which she shares with her friends.
Through this experience, the story conveys the lesson that we have the power to choose our mindset and actions, and that maintaining a positive state of mind can have a ripple effect on others. The illustrations bring the narrative to life, making it accessible and engaging for both children and adults.
A note from the author
“This is my third collaboration with Darcy Ripley, who brought the story to life through her beautiful illustrations. The story is based on actual events from when I was diagnosed with OPMD; a rare genetic disease. I told the backstory of this children's book on Stories from the Stage at GBH Studios in Boston. The video of my story is here: Gerard Quintanar's Early Diagnosis Leads to a Gift of Fortune 🥠”
